Pixie Cut Hair Care Guide for Spring and Summer: Tips for Every Hair Type!

In the spring and summer months the temperatures rise and the sun shines brighter, maintaining your pixie cut is an absolute must. An undeniable fact is that during this season our bodies tend to perspire much more than usual. For the next couple of months your pixie will require a combination of proper hydration, sun protection, and regular maintenance for starters.

First things first make sure you are using products that work well with your hair type. This would be a great time to ask your pixie stylist what products they recommend you use based on your hair texture and your overall hair goals.

Here are some basic essentials:

  • Shampoo/Conditioner

  • Rat tail comb

  • Wrap Foam

  • Wrap Strips

  • Hooded Dryer

  • Light oil (use after the hair is dry)

  • Pixie Heat™ Cordless Flat Iron

  • A styling comb or use your fingers to style and GO!

Here are a few Pixie maintenance tips for in-between regular hair appointments.

  1.  Hydration is key for all hair types, especially some textured hair types that tend to be much drier during any season. On “Wash Days” be sure to use a leave-in conditioner regularly. Deep conditioners are great twice a month. And nothing beats a light-weight hair oil that includes Jojoba oils.

  2. Don't skimp on sunscreen! Just like your skin, your hair needs protection from the sun. Look for hair products with UV protection to shield your hair from the sun’s rays to prevent dryness from sun damage.

  3. Regular Maintenance requires you to keep your pixie cut looking sharp by scheduling regular trims to prevent split ends and maintain your shape. We recommend every 4-6 weeks.

  4. Minimize heat! Limit the use of heat styling tools, on a high heat setting. This prevents any kind of heat damage to your relaxed or natural hair.

With these tailored tips whether you have relaxed, natural or curly hair, you can rock your pixie cut with confidence and style all season long.
